نظمت سفارة الهند في بيروت، بالتعاون مع لجنة جبران الوطنية ومتحف جبران، فعالية في 7 أيار 2026 لإحياء الذكرى الـ 165 لميلاد الأديب الحائز على جائزة نوبل، رابندرانات طاغور تخليداً للصداقة العظيمة التي جمعت بينه وبين الشاعر والفنان والفيلسوف المرموق جبران خليل جبران وذلك في متحف جبران في بشري.
حضر الفعالية السيد فادي رحمة، رئيس لجنة جبران الوطنية والسيد جوزيف جعجع، مدير متحف جبران والسيد طوني طوق ممثلاً رئيس بلدية بشري السيد جو كيروز، بالإضافة إلى شخصيات من بشري وأصدقاء الهند وأبناء الجالية الهندية.
قام سعادة سفير الهند في لبنان محمد نور رحمن شيخ بوضع أكاليل الزهور أمام تمثال طاغور، وشاركه في ذلك كل من السيد رحمة والسيد جعجع.
ألقى سعادة السفير كلمة ركز فيها على الروابط الفكرية العميقة التي جمعت بين طاغور وجبران، مشيراً إلى أن كلاهما كانا من أشد المدافعين عن السلام والحوار والقيم الإنسانية. من جهته، صرح السيد جعجع بأن هذه الفعالية تحتفي بالصداقة الحية بينهما التي تبني جسوراً بين الثقافتين الهندية واللبنانية. أما السيد طوق فأشار إلى أن تقاربهما الفريد يعكس قوة الثقافة ولغة الحوار. وشدد السيد رحمة على أهمية الحوار بين الثقافات، وهو المفهوم الذي جسده الفيلسوفان والشاعران مع التركيز على السلام والازدهار.
تخلل الحفل أداءً لمغنية الأوبرا السيدة ماريا مطر، التي أنشدت النشيدين الوطنيين للهند ولبنان. تلا ذلك غناء مقطوعة “إيكلا شالو ري” (Ekla chalo re) من أعمال طاغور وأغنية “أعطني الناي وغنِّ” من روائع جبران.
واختتمت الفعالية بمعرض صور للوحات طاغور الشهيرة، تلاه تقديم ضيافة خفيفة للحضور.
The Embassy of India in Beirut in association with Gibran National Committee and Gibran museum organized an event on 7 May 2026, to commemorate the 165th birth anniversary of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore in remembrance of the great friendship with eminent poet, artist and philosopher Gibran Khalil Gibran at Gibran Museum in Bsharri.
The event was attended by Mr. Fady Rahme, President of Gibran National Committee, Mr. Joseph Geagea, Director of Gibran Museum, Mr. Tony Tawk, representing Mayor of Bcharre Mr. Joe Keyrouz, as well as personalities from Bsharre, friends of India and members of the Indian community.
Ambassador of India to Lebanon H.E. Md. Noor Rahman Sheikh paid floral tributes at the bust of Tagore, joined by Mr. Rahme and Mr. Geagea.
HE Ambassador delivered a speech on the deep intellectual bond shared by Tagore and Gibran, that both of them were strong proponents of peace, dialogue and human values.
For his part, Mr. Geagea said the event commemorates the living friendship between them that builds bridges between the Indian and Lebanese cultures.
Mr. Tawk noted that their unique closeness reflects the power of culture and dialogue.
Mr. Rahme stressed the importance of dialogue between cultures, as a concept embodied by the two philosophers and poets and emphasis laid by them on peace and prosperity.
Opera singer Mrs. Maria Matar performed the national anthems of India and Lebanon followed by rendition of Tagore’s creation “Ekla chalo re” and Gibrans’s creation “aatani naya wa ghani”.
The event was concluded with a photo exhibition of Tagore’s famous paintings and light refreshments.
